Power Platforms Overview

What is a Power Platform?

The cellular front end functionality that resides between the transeiver's RF output and the antenna input(s), and is centered on the power amplification of RF signals.

Power Platform functional content varies by application and is dependent on the extent to which hardware is "platform capable" and aimed at providing increased value over the individual components.

Platform-ability can exist either through firmware-enabled RF configurability, or hardware scalability via seamless component substitution, addition, or subtraction.

PowerSmart® for 3G/4G

RFMD’s RFRD6460 3G multi-band, multimode PowerSmart® Power Platform is targeted at Smartphones and mobile internet devices (MIDs) by providing extensive flexibility and customization, “user experience” focused performance with real-time battery life optimization, and a dramatically smaller front end solution size—all while accelerating an original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) time to market.

RF323x PowerStar® Platform for Entry-level 3G

The RF323x Power Platform features the high-efficiency PowerStar®-based RF323x 2G Transmit Module with pin-compatible options supporting either one or two bands of WCDMA. The pin-compatible WCDMA PAs are available in two product family options. The first option, the RF724x family of WCDMA Power Amplifiers, addresses all major frequency bands and delivers industry-leading peak efficiency and DG.09 as low as 13 mA through the use of multi-bias control. The second option, the RF722x family of WCDMA Power Amplifiers, also addresses all major frequency bands and is optimized for chipsets using three-mode control schemes.
